about
i wish i could explain how much i LOVED singing this song at a show. picking a random young lady near the front and then looking right at her as i sang that line : "pressing my mouth into Sugar there." seriously. electric. :) ahem
this song is partly about exactly what you think it's about. partly.
there's an entirely separate sexual encounter happening in this song and only one of them is actually happening.
i think this is probably our most popular song ("don't need anyone" and "heavenly" might also be.) i could not be happier with this song. although i can nit-pick the recording and engineering, the quirks make it cooler. i remember working out the lyrics in my old apartment above klondike kate's and michael saying, "oh my god! can you SAY that?!" and both of us laughing like naughty schoolboys...which is exactly what we were at heart.
lyrics
Sugar screams for me to taste her
smearing cream on ripping velvet...
giving in i go down,
pressing my mouth
into Sugar there.
Sugar screams for me to taste her
